Dental Hygiene Practical Examination – Revision Focus

This intensive 3-day revision program is designed to help candidates review key examination tasks, refine their techniques, correct common mistakes and strengthen their overall exam readiness.

Throughout the revision, candidates will receive:

  • Task demonstrations and technique review
  • Supervised hands-on practice
  • Real-time correction and personalised feedback
  • Review of common examination mistakes
  • Focused practice across key competency areas
  • Communication and case-based scenario practice

Candidates will revise the following areas:

  • Clinical information gathering – collecting relevant patient information and performing appropriate clinical assessments.
  • Communication – explaining findings, discussing care and interacting professionally during scenario-based stations.
  • Diagnosis and management planning – interpreting clinical information and developing an appropriate management approach.
  • Local anaesthesia – reviewing safe and appropriate administration techniques.
  • Dental radiography – reviewing radiographic procedures and clinical technique.
  • Periodontal examination – performing structured periodontal assessment and recording findings.
  • Ultrasonic instrumentation – practising appropriate ultrasonic techniques for periodontal care.
  • Periodontal instrumentation – refining hand-scaling techniques across:
    • Lower anterior teeth
    • Upper anterior teeth
    • Lower molars
    • Upper premolars and molars
  • Preventive and restorative procedures, including:
    • Fissure sealant placement
    • Temporary restoration using glass-ionomer material
  • Infection prevention and control – reviewed throughout the relevant clinical and technical tasks.
